Current Volunteer Vacancies

Join our team of amazing volunteers! We have a range of volunteer roles available, from working directly with patients to behind-the-scenes support, helping out in our retail shops or assisting with special projects and fundraising. You can choose to volunteer regularly or on a more flexible basis.

We'll work with you to find a role that suits your interests and availability. Check out our current volunteer vacancies in our shops and at Te Kōwhai, our base in Masterton below.

Retail vacancies

  • Fabric sorting and storing - flexible days/hours

    Counter/Sales - previous public facing experience preferable:

    Shifts Available:

    • Friday Morning

    • Saturday afternoon

    • Sunday 10am-2pm

    • Tuesday afternoon

    Clothing processors - an interest in fashion/clothing/textiles helpful

    Shifts Available:

    • Weds afternoon

    • Friday Afternoon

    • Friday Morning

    Weekend donation sorting (back room) - greet and accept donations, sort and tidy.

    Shifts Available:

    • Sunday 10am-2pm

    • Saturday morning

    • Saturday half day shift – in shop or sorting donations

    • Assistance with washing clothing/linen

    • Saturday half-day shift monthly or more frequently.

Te Kōwhai vacancies
Looking for a way to make a difference in the Wairarapa community? Check out our current vacancies by clicking on the menu.

  • We are seeking a fit, outdoorsy, handy volunteer to be responsible for garden upkeep and minor maintenance work inside and out here at Te Kōwhai. The time commitment would be up to 5hrs per week. If this sounds like you or someone you know please ask them to contact Emma to discuss.

  • Care companions play a vital role at Hospice Wairarapa, working closely with our clients to provide companionship and respite for caregivers.

  • Our trained team of biographers provide our patients the opportunity to capture their life story for their family and whanau to keep and treasure. Each biography can take around four hours per week over a four to six week period.

  • 2 hours on a Wednesday once a month. Are you a great listener while also able to encourage uplifting conversation in a coffee morning group?
